Under the watch of Abdul El-Sayed, the Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC) euthanized 4,680 dogs and cats. More than 1 in 4 animals euthanized in the county were done so under his watch. Conditions were so troubling that a former employee filed a whistleblower lawsuit and described the facility as a “slaughterhouse.”
